Fraser High School opened up the Piano Studies recital on January 15th 2014 with a performance by Robert Lindsay who played “Gymnopedia No. 1” by Erik Satie.

Piano Studies is a class where all students can learn to play the piano, whether they are beginners or advanced students who simply want to further their studies.

“Piano is a magical instrument that you can express yourself nonverbally with. Listening isn’t enough, you have to feel,” Said senior Grant Corbat who participated in the recital.

It is taught by Mrs. Karen Hagerty who is an extremely accomplished pianist, and was even a music therapist for a period of her life.

“I spend my days with an incredible group of Performing Arts colleagues, and a wonderful group of young people in my classes. To be able to teach a subject that I feel so passionate about is the highlight of everyday,” Hagerty said.

The recital took place at seven p.m. in the high school’s choir room. It was a semi-formal event, featuring 14 students who performed on the school’s grand piano.

“Fourteen students came together to perform a wonderful and memorable piano recital. I am so proud of their dedication and accomplishments throughout the semester, which allowed them to shine during their individual performances. They were skilled, poised, and showcased beautiful music,” Hagerty said.
