As the Fraser football team’s season came to a close on the last week of the regular season, the Ramblers would fail to make the playoffs for the fourth season in a row. While the Ramblers empty their lockers for the season, other teams around the county and the state are preparing for the first round of the MHSAA Playoffs. Fraser this year played against five teams that would punch their ticket into the playoffs. Ferndale, Dakota, Lakeview, Port Huron Northern and Roseville are suiting up for another week of action.

This week Roseville, who finished the year 6-3 and 4-1 in the MAC Blue division travels to battle the Huskies of Lakeview. The Huskies finished the year 6-3 and 3-2 in the MAC Blue division. These two teams faced off in week 6 of regular season with Roseville defeating Lakeview 26-22 on Roseville’s homecoming.

On the left, Roseville High’s offense on their way to 31-6 victory over Fraser in week 7 of the season on October 5th ,2018.

So expect Lakeview to try and get the bad taste out their mouth as they attempt to defend their home field. Kickoff is at 7:00 on Friday October 26th.

With a strong record of 7-2 and heading into the postseason yet again are the Cougars of Dakota High School. Dakota finished second in the MAC Red division and with a shaky division record of 3-2 and have quality wins over Orchard St Mary’s Prep, Anchor Bay and Romeo which is their opponent this week.

Dakota High on their way to a 45-15 win over Fraser on August 30th, 2018

Dakota and Romeo faced off in week 7 of the regular season and Dakota came out on top 37-30 in two overtimes. Romeo finished the season with good wins over Port Huron Northern, Gross Pointe South and Eisenhower. The Bulldogs finished the regular season 6-3 and 3-2 in the MAC Red division as Romeo will travel to face Dakota on October 26th at 7:00.

After winning the MAC Blue division and posting a winning season for the fourth year in a row, the Huskies of Port Huron Northern High are back in the post season after posting a record of 8-1 and a division record of 5-0. The Huskies are playing host to Lakeshore High. The Big Reds posted a record of 6-3 and a 4-1 division record in the MAC Gold. This is Lakeshore’s first playoff appearance since 2009. Lakeshore will have a long drive as they head up to Port Huron North to battle the Huskies on October 26th at 7:00.

Finally, a very intriguing matchup outside of the MAC Conference is a foe Fraser faced in week 1 of the season: Ferndale High.  Ferndale High would post a 7-2 overall record and in the win over Fraser is the most points and biggest margin of victory the Eagles would have this season. The eagles will battle the Knights of Oak Park High. the Knights have huge wins under their belts going into this match up. They beat (Utica) Eisenhower High 31-13, Groves High 13-7, Troy Athens High 33-14, Stoney Creek High 41-14, Rochester High 41-33 and Harrison 23-15. All of those wins are against powerhouse teams and with those wins the Knights are going to be a powerhouse force against Ferndale. Kickoff betweens these two teams is at 7:00 on October 26th.
