Dress code has been a highly debated topic for years: school staff and authorities have had to issue many dress code violations throughout the school years and students have challenged these so called “unnecessary” rules in return. But what is the purpose for these strict codes?

Later on in life, students will have to make a career for themselves and follow the dress codes for that job environment. Many careers require professional attire, which makes the establishment and the employees look better for their clients. Schools are trying to prepare students for their future expectations.

One major problem that students seem to have with dress code is the limited amount of clothing items they can wear; however, many clothing items can be found anywhere, even name brand stores, that fit the dress code policy and fit the person wearing them.

During a trip to the mall over the weekend, many stores were found to have clothing that fits the dress code that can be worn throughout the school year. Items that defied the codes were discovered as well. Here are some examples of do’s and don’ts when it comes to shopping for school clothing.
