Basketball through several team players and the coach eyes’

Basketball is a tough sport to play. Aside from making a basket you need to learn certain skills to aid your team in winning a game. Overall, our team tried their hardest even though they lost against Romeo High School.

“I like to play basketball and I have friends on the basketball team,” Jakob Donnelly said, point guard for the freshman team.

The coach who is Matt Lockhart pushes them to do their best and work on improving their skills during practice and games against other teams. He has been coaching for nineteen years.

“We work on basic fundamentals: defensive and offensive skills and practice six days a week,” Lockhart said.

While there could be many cons of coaching basketball team Lockhart only gave me one of those possible cons.

“The pros of coaching are getting to the kids’ improvement and building relationships.

The only con is cutting kids from the team,” Lockhart said.

With the season just starting, the team could win more games and work on their skills.

Since it’s only been going on for couple of weeks, the team could improve.

“We’ve lost three games, but we’ve won only one,” Kenny Spendal said, power forward of the team.

Most of the players practice when the weather permits and have been playing basketball competitively for some time.

“I’ve been playing competitive basketball for 3 years,” Aron Geml said, small forward.

Aron plans to pursue college basketball when he is older and and hasn’t faced an injury this season.

“I hope to pursue college basketball,” Geml said.
