Nathan Sykes: Kiss Me Quick Music Review
October 30, 2015
Nathan Sykes’ first and latest single has prompted fans to come unglued. The new song is titled “Kiss Me Quick,” and the album is coming out later this year in January. Sykes has been a member of The Wanted since 2009. The band released three albums, toured the world, and starred in a reality show before calling it quits in 2014. Nathan was surprised by the upbeat tune.
“I surprised myself a tiny bit [with the sound],” he said, “and I was surrounded with music like that all the way through since I was a child.”
The song had elements of R&B and Jazz to it. The lyrics were catchy and meaningful to Sykes “Baby, Come Kiss Me Quick.” The most noted parts were the trumpet and drums. Sykes’s voice correlated with the rhythm and beat of the music. He is excited to reinvent a name for himself beyond The Wanted.
The “Kiss Me Quick” music video was produced very well. Sykes worked with director Emil Nava, who has even shot videos for famous artists like Calvin Harris and Ed Sheeran. The video didn’t have any inappropriate scenes and mostly featured the now soloist dancing and snapping his fingers to the song. The trumpet section was even shown for a couple of seconds and had close ups of Sykes himself. The song had a joyful feeling to it.
He is currently signed with Global Entertainment and his label informed him that his July 22nd show at the Gramercy Theatre had been sold out. His old band mates are still supporting him by talking to him about his newest single. Sykes is totally comfortable about branching out on his own.
“We did leave the door open to potentially make music in the future, but I think that everyone is very happy with what they’re doing in the moment,” he said. “I really hope that people enjoy this compete reintroduction [of me], but I said, Never say never.’ “
