Every year the performing arts department takes a trip somewhere in the country to compete against schools from all over. They rotate between bringing only Fraser Singers and the Symphonic/Jazz bands to bringing the whole marching band. This year the whole marching band went alongside the Fraser Singers to Chicago.
The Fraser Singers compete against other choirs, while the Marching Band just performs for entertainment.
The group came back with a significant amount of accolades to commemorate the trip.
The results are as follows:
Show Choir (3A): Gold Rating (Superior) – (90, 92, 88 =90); 2nd Place
Chamber Choir (3A): Gold Rating (Superior) – (92, 96, 90 =92.66)
Marching Band (3A): Participation Award (Performance at Medieval Times for the Worldstrides Festival awards banquet; initially scheduled for Wringley Field) T
he Fraser Singers Chamber Choir received a Certificate of Excellence and Invitation to the National “Festival of Gold” Choral and Band Invitational. There were also individual awards that two members received.
There was the Maestro Award for outstanding musicians at the festival. This award was given to Nathan Zielkowski for his solo in the song “Transylvania Mania.”

Then, there was the Ovation Award. This award is given to one person across all the bands that compete. Students were nominated by all the directors and then the organizers of the Worldstrides Festival team looked at the nominations and picked one student. Senior, Olivia Deir, received this significant award.
Overall, from sightseeing to performing, the trip was a major success. The band and choir can come out of this feeling proud of their accomplishments and proud to represent their school on a national stage.
