Students in Teacher’s Tamara Westfall’s Food and Nutrition are showcasing their Baking competency during 5th block by having a Cupcake War competition they were judged by Best looking cupcake, best taste, and flavor profile.
“They’ve been spending this unit learning the science of baking with their culminating project being “Cupcake Wars.” They have designed their own cupcakes from scratch and will be presenting them for judging by our COC students,” said Fraser High School Teacher Tamara Westfall.
There were different variety’s of cupcakes like anime inspired cupcakes from shows “Jutusku Kaisen” and “Demon Slayer” By Fraser High School students William Dargo’s group He loves anime and wanted to add his interest into the competition.
Next up is a Minnielicious cupcake made from oreo’s students Frieda Quaas, Alex Smith, and Angelica Lovrd wanted the judges to feel welcome and happy while enjoy the cupcake only problem was there weren’t enough oreos but luckily for the team Fraser High School teacher Kimberly Sprigg’s came to the rescue to solve the issue.
Speaking more of oreo there was also Oreo and mint cupcake’s from Athon Weedle he absolutely loves mint and wanted to include it in the cupcake even though there was a hard time to decorating it his favorite thing is seeing people’s reactions to the final product.
Next up is a dessert themed dessert a strawberry chessecake cupcake by student’s Avi Datta and Xavier Dawson’s group the idea was coming into form when the group put strawberry jam on top of the cupcake and when he tried it he absolutely loved it and kept it on the cupcake’s.
Judge’s Breyah Reed tasted the Strawberry chessecake cupcake and absolutely loved it.
“It reminded me of Chessecake Factory,” said Fraser High School student and Judge Breyah Reed.
Judge Lucas Beecherl Tried The Cookie Monster themed cupcake and said it was delicious and loves it just the way it is.
The idea of the Cupcake wars came from RMS incoporating science and baking into one making it not just informational but also making it fun to do in class.
“I love watching the groups and helping them My favorite cupcake design has to be the Cookie Monster design,” said Westfall.
It was a delicious success and also a fun way incoporating science in a fun and educational matter.
