Fraser High School Student Council has been hard at work preparing for 2026 Michigan Associations of Student Councils and Honor Societies (MASC/MAHS) States. Every year, around 25 student council students attend this large leadership conference in February to gain valuable experience and learn lessons about leadership that they couldn’t get anywhere else.
At States, there are many different awards to apply for. The biggest one is the Award of Excellence, or the AOE. There are 10 sections that highlight the work that student council does. These sections include organization and structure, focus areas/vision for the year, goal setting, the project planning process, evaluation, record keeping, service project, communication, group development and leadership training, and a letter of recommendation and documentation of activities.
Fraser’s student council splits into committees to complete the different sections. There are different evaluations and writing processes that each person is charge of. Once everyone is finished, they return their sections to an executive board member in order for them to revise and edit. Once this is done, student council submits this to MASC/MAHS for grading.
If their work is sufficient, Fraser student council will win the 2026 Award of Excellence.
