On April 12th and 13th, 5 students from FHS competed for ratings at Lake Orion High School for State Solo and Ensemble Vocal Festival.
To be eligible, each individual had to attend District Solo and Ensemble back in January at Chippewa Valley High School, and receive a Division I, Excellent, rating.
These students were asked to prepare 2 classical pieces of contrasting natures, one of them in a foreign language. In addition, the students were then asked to sight-read to test their musical knowledge.
The students were evaluated on various criteria including tonal beauty, breath control, musical elements, language elements, interpretation, and presentation.
The students that participated were juniors Audrey Steepe and Audrey Kanne, sophomore Samantha Walzak, and freshmen Breyanne Stallman and Riahnna Johnson.
All of the students who attended received a first division rating.
