Solo & Ensemble Success

On January 13th and 20th, individuals and small groups from Fraser High School bands participated in a variety of individual and group events.  January 13th was the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 16 Solo & Ensemble Festival which took place at Rochester High School.  There were five group ensembles that participated with 73 members in total.

The events were rated on Tone, Intonation, Rhythm, Technique, and Interpretation which led to the Overall Performance score.  The Flute, Saxophone, Brass, Clarinet, and Percussion Chamber Ensembles all received first divisions, the highest rating possible.

The Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 16 Solo and Ensemble Festival occurred on January 20th at Rochester High School as well.  A total of 46 individual and small group events participated in this event with 30 events receiving the highest award of a first division, equivalent to an “A”and 15 earning a second division, equivalent to a “B”.

Participants who received a First Division are eligible to participate in the State Solo & Ensemble Festival which takes place March 17, 2018 at Chippewa Valley High School.
