“Just the Beginning” album cover for Grace VanderWaal

After winning America’s Got Talent, America’s teen hit sensation Grace VanderWaal, is living it up with her new and improved debut album, Just the Beginning, which was released on November 3, 2017.

Let’s take a reality check: Grace VanderWaal is just thirteen-years-old. Yes, thirteen years-old! At just twelve years old, Grace VanderWaal had won America’s Got Talent and her career only skyrocketed from there. Just the Beginning, is VanderWaal’s 12-song, debut, full-length disc, and the follow-up to her best-selling 2016 Perfectly Imperfect EP.

Her success doesn’t stop for anything so if you thought that she was busy before, then it is interesting to know that she has already taken home a stupendous number of awards, including a Teen Choice Award. Her debut U.S. headlining tour is currently sold-out for 2018! What exactly were you doing at thirteen?

Just the Beginning opens with VanderWaal dancing in the “Moonlight,” which reminds us of a sincere Nightingale strumming away on a ukulele. One of Grace’s songs reassures us that we are not alone. In “Sick of Being Told”, she doesn’t just write what people want to hear, she tells the truth from within, making VanderWaal viewed as quirky yet relatable. She not only crafts compelling sounds but renders a majestic perception that will pinch at your heart and tug on those strings.

With Grace’s soaring vocals and gentle ukulele frolic, she has shown us that age doesn’t matter. The messages in which she captures throughout her music is astounding, especially of a person who comes from younger age and little known life experience. VanderWaal’s style is easily assimilated: no frills just catchiness. Grace’s music is relatable material that comes from the heart.

Considering Grace VanderWaal a success at just thirteen years old, it would be an honor to follow up on her in the future. I would genuinely give Grace VanderWaal’s debut album, Just the Beginning, a 5 out of 5 star rating.
