Homecoming week started October 6th and goes through October 11th.
Student Council has been preparing for a memorable week since June. The theme this year is World Tour, and each class has selected a city and a color to base their decorations on.
Each year there is a float competition, hallway decorating, spirit week, powderpuff, the pep assembly, and the football game that gives the week a thrilling, competitive nature. The excitement of the week culminates on Saturday at the formal dance. It is one of the most widely anticipated weeks of the year.
A few members of student council have shared their opinions on homecoming week:
Most people love the excitement of the students. “Seeing excitement progress throughout the week…It’s my favorite week of school,” one of the freshmen class sponsors, Ms. Westfall said. “I think I’ve seen a lot of participation already,” freshman member Elena DePerro said.
Junior sponsor Ms. King said that her favorite part is “seeing all the students dressed up and having fun.” Student council advisor Mrs. Schaeff loves Monday morning when “everyone comes in and sees the hallways decorated. It really sets the tone for the whole week,” she said. Sophomore class sponsor Ms. Byrne agreed that one of her favorite parts is “seeing all the hallways decorated and the school spirit,” she said.
Sophomore class president Aubrie Haney and junior member Hailey Beauchamp like how the week brings everyone together. “My favorite part of the week is the strong sense of community,” Beauchamp said. “My favorite part of homecoming week is probably the unity that everyone shows,” Haney agreed. Senior class sponsor Mrs. Warga feels this too. “I love seeing how all the student body celebrates spirit week and the pep assembly and all the different groups coming together,” she said.

Everyone is expecting perfection and that is what they get every year, thanks to the hard work of these students. They dedicate hours every day to making sure everything is in place, on top of focusing on school, sports, and other clubs. “I’m looking forward to it being over. It’s very stressful,” senior class publicist Leah Woods said. It is an amazing, unifying week, but it takes a ton of time and effort.
