This past weekend, several Fraser High School and Richards Middle School Students competed at the Michigan National History Day Competition. Twelve students won the opportunity to represent Michigan at the National Competition in DC in June.

Congratulations to all the students below!

Fraser High School

– National Finalists Katelyn Frazier, Alexis Mulka, and Aneko Nichol created an exhibit entitled, “Parkesine to PET: The Frontiers in the Plastic Industry.”

– National Finalist Kirk Wohlfield created a website entitled, “New Frontiers: The Hubble Space Telescope and its Terrestrial Impacts on Technology.”

– National Finalist Gabby Tonn who created a performance entitled, “A Patriot’s Pen: The Legacy of Mercy Otis Warren.” She also brought home the primary sources special award.

– National Finalists Mya Lees and Olivia Palazzolo created a documentary entitled, “Obstetrical Tragedies Lead to New Frontiers in Medical Sterilization.”

-National Alternates Faith Aloia, Vanessa Ellis, Alisha Gentz, and Frankie Palazzolo created an exhibit entitled, “Salient Steps Toward Suffrage.” They also won a special award for entry with the best use of newspapers.

– National Alternate Zack Howey created a documentary entitled, “Opening Up the Skies Above the Seas: A New Frontier in Warfare.” Zack also won a special award for best entry in naval or maritime history.

-National Alternate Taylor Frazier created an exhibit entitled, “Ready! Set! Play! Frontiers in Videograming and the Industries Earliest Influences.”

Richards Middle School

– National Finalists Violet Sarcona and Ashlyn Stemmerich created an exhibit entitled, “Radium Girls: Steps Toward Workers’ Safety.” They also won a special award for best use of newspapers in the Junior Division.

-National Finalists Mariam Bebawi, Juliana Johnson, and Madison Kaimala created a website entitled, “Cleopatra: A Menace to her Predecessors.” They also won a special award for best entry on women’s history in the Junior Division.

– National Alternate Brent Wohlfield created a website on the adaption of color photography entitled, “True Colors: How Color Photography Opened Up a New Frontier for the Common Person.”
– National Alternates Breyanne Stallman, Shelby Davis, Jade Lees-Gigger, Avery Dobosenski, and Jimmy Holz who created a performance entitled, “The Salem Witch Trials: Pandemonium Propels a New Frontier.”
