Fraser High School is very accepting when it comes to race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, lifestyle, etc. And they have specific ways of making it known that they are by the number of clubs and activities that they have.

Christians United Club: Meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00am

G.S.A: Gender & Sexuality Alliance: Meets after school on Tuesdays at 2:30 pm

Dungeons and Dragons club: meets after school in Flanagan’s room

28 days of movement club: meets in Demetral’s room

I’ve asked some of the advisors from these clubs as to why they feel this is important to the school in regard to diversity. Bethany Wojciechowski, an advisor for the Christian Student Union states, “I believe that Christian Student Union allows people with something in common, Christianity, to come together. This gives them the ability to grow deeper in their faith with other people around them supporting and encouraging them. As it says in the Bible, “Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” Proverbs 27:17. In the school there are many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. This club brings together a mix of different people with different backgrounds and ethnicities.”

To add onto this, Eboni Brown, who is an advisor for the 28 days of movement club says, “I believe that this group was important simply because it gave small ethnic groups in this school a place to go not only to express who they felt where important figures in their community but educate others on their culture as well as the adversity that they have faced or think they may face. By doing this the hope was to bring awareness and lower the amount of ignorance that we have as people on other ethnic groups that are outside our own.”

Fraser has become a diverse school and has made an impact to make it as inclusive as possible and as a safe space for every student in need of one. These clubs are a great way to learn and grow in what you feel passionate about. Not to mention it’s a great way to meet some new friends with the same common interest as you. No matter what you believe or who you are, there’s a place at Fraser for you.
