Disney Channel star Zendaya has become an aspiring new music artist. After signing with Hollywood Records in 2012, Zendaya has released multiple singles including “Watch Me,” “Sing it out,” and “Something to Dance for.” Appearing on the Ellen Degeneres Show, she performed her newest song, “Replay.”
“Replay” is the perfect title for the song, as it seems the same three lines get played “again and again.” The lyrics “Wanna put this song on replay, I can listen to it all day, I can listen to you all day, Hear you all day,” are the meat to the song, illustrating the typical cliché of a teenage love life. Between the catchy beat and heavily repeated words, these four lines of lyrics easily enters one’s ear without leaving the other.

Zendaya’s voice is a youthful addition to modern day pop music. Though the computer based music itself conforms to what young people listen to  today, the song includes more innocent lyrics, which acts as a breath of fresh air.

Lyrics like, “I wanna put you on repeat, play you everywhere I go, e-everywhere I go,” resemble the innocent and mildly obsessive feelings of a teenage girl towards her new boy crush of the week.  With lyrics like these, “Replay” is aimed towards young girls and woman who relate to the pull of heart strings from the smooth talk of their favorite male friend.
