State Solo and Ensemble Results

On Saturday, March 18th, band students traveled to Chippewa Valley High School to compete in the District Solo and Ensemble Festival. Fifty events qualified at the District Solo and Ensemble Festival, with a total of45 events participating at the State competition level.

Out of all the events, 40 received First Division Ratings and five events received a Second Division Ratings. Soloists who are in grades 10, 11, and 12 had to perform their solos, memorize scales, and sight reading a new piece of music. Students compete at a proficient level which grows increasingly difficult as they progress through high school. For proficient ratings, in order to earn a First Division rating students must score an 85 to 100 score. For students to earn a Second Division Rating, they must earn a 70 to 84 score.

Six chamber ensembles received a First Division Rating including Alpha and Beta Flute Choirs, Brass Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, Saxophone Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble. Each of the chamber ensembles are composed of nine to 20 students.
