It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Wait, it’s a discus! Formerly a student at FHS, Brian Williams is on his way to greatness in the discuss throw. Placed at second in the state when he was a high school student, the 2013 graduate is now competing for Central Iowa Junior College and had recently ranked second at the collegiate level and fourth professionally. Not only that, Williams’s discus throw currently is standing in thirteenth place worldwide, and he is qualified to the Olympic Trials in Oregon.

Here’s the catch: Williams is a student of a not-so-big junior college, and consequently, he does not have the funding to participate in the trials. Therefore, in order to cover expenses, Williams has created a GoFundMe.

Faced with an outstanding opportunity, it would be unfortunate to miss out due to financial reasons. If you would like to contribute to Williams’s funding, whether it be one dollar or one hundred, donations can be received at https://www.gofundme.com/8kzbhtz9.

“Brian is a great person trying to reach an amazing level of competition,” Principal Michael Lonze said.
