The king is back! Hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar shook the music world in 2012 with his album Good kid, m.A.A.d. city. He then broke the internet with his verse on Big Sean’s song “Control”. With being locked in his studio with TDE in house producers and Dr. Dre, Kendrick has a lot of people anxiously waiting for his untitled project. Many people have already heard the album and love it. After listening to 4 songs, Peter Rosenberg had some nice things to say in an article by Andres Tardio on MTV. “Kendrick Lamar, somehow, has developed even more, gone to another level.” (Rosenberg). Kendrick shared a few details in a recent interview with complex. The rapper said he has between 30-40 songs recorded and ready for release.

Aside from Kendrick, there are many other artists waiting to release their work to the public. Odd Future rapper Earl Sweatshirt has planned his 3rd solo project to release soon. His album will be titled Gnossos, the follow up to his successful sophomore album, Doris, which was released summer of last year. According to Earl’s twitter, he has claimed that the album has been finished since june. He is patiently waiting for the proper time to release. He has also been very sick lately from lack of eating. Consequenceofsound.net quoted his twitter saying, “I had to press eject on the tour. I am physically and mentally at the end of my rope. I weigh a fraction of what I’m supposed to and without synergy between the body and mind there is nothing. no point in performing if it’s not the best show I can give every time.” (@earlxsweat) The Odd Future rapper has already shown off many of his new songs at live shows with his partner in crime, Vince Staples. Speaking of Odd Future, what has its ring leader, Tyler, the Creator been up to? He has taken a lot of time off from the studio to focus on his hit TV show, Loiter Squad, his clothing line, and his Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival. But he tweeted the other day that he’s back, so be ready for him in 2015.

Chicago native, Chance the Rapper has big things planned for his loyal fans. He is working on a musical for the classic movie, Lion King. He also has a free album coming in december entitled, Surf. Chance has high expectations for this after working in the studio with the likes of Frank Ocean.

Speaking of Frank Ocean, he has been rumored to have something coming for us. Not having any social media, we don’t have much information on what he has planned. Many believe he is going to pull a Beyonce and drop a surprise album. If Bey could do it, why not Frank? It has been rumored that he is going to release a double album too.

When talking about projects we’ve been waiting on for a while, Mac Miller often comes to mind. He had major success off of his 2013 album, Watching Movies With the Sound Off, and his 2014 mixtape,Faces. Mac has had his fans waiting for a year and a half now for his duo album with major producer, Pharrell Williams. The album will be entitled, Pink Slime. Both Mac and Pharrell have had their hands full lately but now have time to finish the album. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Mac Miller stated that he’s been working a lot with Pharrell. he stated “All we gotta do it sit down for a few days and knock out songs” (McCormick). Pink Slime is expected to release by the end of 2014.

We can’t forget about who is believed to be one of the greatest ever, Eminem. After releasing “Guts over Fear” and the Shady cypher that raised a lot of eyebrows, people were anxiously waiting for his 2 disc album Shady XV… until it got leaked. After being originally planned for November 24th, the mp3 files of the album fell in the wrong hands and people managed to snatch what possibly could be the veterans last work ever early. For other veterans, Kanye West has been pretty low about his work. But we can usually expect something great from him every year, as he has proved it in the past.

There are a lot of artists to look forward to in these next couple of months. So those who are a fan of these artists, be ready, because there is a lot to come very soon in music.
