Karmin in Detroit on 2-8-14

The temperatures were biting cold and the snow was falling on the night of February 8, but it didn’t stop a handful hard-core Karmin fans from lining up outside St. Andrew’s Hall in down town Detroit. The doors opened a couple minutes after seven, and the concert hall filled up, letting the audience’s feet thaw out. The room was crowded with people singing along to the pop music blasting from the speakers and indistinct chatter, and everyone was hoping to witness a good concert.
After a while, the Los Angeles-based rapper Bryce Ross-Johnson, more known as Bryce Vine, took the stage together with his DJ to warm up for the headline band. He did a great job pumping the crowd up with his joyful beats and catchy lyrics, and he’s definitely someone to check out!
Finally, at nine o’clock, Karmin, a pop duo consisting of Amy Renee Heidemann and her fiancé Nicholas Louis “Nick” Noonan, entered the stage. They’re best known for their song “Brokenhearted”, which reached top 20 in the United States and several other countries, and their song “Hello” which reached number one on the Dance Billboard chart in the U.S. This tour is named after their not yet released album, Pulses.
Karmin first performed their most recent single, “I Want It All”, and followed it up with their hit from 2012, “Hello”. The crowd was ecstatic, and the duo seemed to be too. Heidemann multiple times pointed out how they never expected an audience this big and energetic, and that they might have to do the show a little differently for the Detroit-crowd.
The show went on with a variety of up-tempo songs and ballads, and Amy Heidemann really got to show off her impressive vocal range. The couple naturally had a genuine chemistry, and it really looked like they enjoyed being on stage. It was a real successful night, and with the show Karmin put on, the audience could leave St. Andrew’s hall with smiles on their faces and Karmin’s lyrics stuck in their heads.
Actually, the duo first rose to fame after posting cover videos to YouTube, among others Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” and Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now”. Today, they have their own original songs, and very soon their own studio album, so make sure you go online and check out their stuff, they’re without doubt someone to look up for!
