On May 12th, a student who attends Fraser/MMSTC won a math competition that was held at MMSTC high school.  The student, Joseph Kovac, placed first in this competition.

“I got first place, about 1000 students take the state test. I was the only one to completely finish. I will be taking the National Trigstar Contest by the end of June” Kovac said.

Kovac stated that there weren’t any requirements to participate as long as you had the sponsor form filled out. He was entered into the competition by his teacher, Mrs. Dewy.

“Besides being a requirement for my class, I was excited to see how I would do on this challenging test. The first 3 problems are always easy and quite systematic. The 4th and last problem is what makes the difference. I was able to get 100/100 points in 34 minutes” Kovac said.

Kovac intends to save the money won for important items. He doesn’t want to spend the money all at once.

“I am saving most of the $1000. I may use it for gas this summer. I also want to invest some into bit coin” Kovac said.
