“Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

For the lead single of Mark Ronson’s fourth album Uptown Special, the English artist will “uptown funk you up” with his newest single “Uptown Funk,” which features American singer Bruno Mars. Their new song was released on December 10th and has been thriving since.

Peaking at #1 on the U.S. iTunes charts and #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, this song takes you back to the mid-60’s to late 70’s, inspired by the funk and boogie era.

“[The song] turned into a full-on combustible groove workout with elastic bass and indomitable spirit,” said Ronson in an interview.

Beginning with a deep bass voice, simple beat, an electric guitar, and trumpets that later join in, the catchy melody and lyrics gets people singing along and wanting to dance. The song puts listeners in a groovy mood, especially at the chorus after the line, “Don’t believe me, just watch.” The instrumental part imitates the Minneapolis sound of a mix of funk, rock, and pop. The single sounds so much like an “old school” funk or boogie that listeners might think that the song itself was written several years ago.

Receiving positive feedback from critics and radio listeners, “Uptown Funk” is a highly recommended song to listen to, especially to those who enjoy and love funks and boogies.
